On March 20 at 7pm, The Amplify Project will hold a ticketed virtual fundraising show with local R&B vocalist Kenyatta Rashon to benefit Do You See What I See, a local organization that supports female mentorship and empowerment.

The show, known as the Amplify Kickback, is part of a series of concerts and panel discussions centered around support for community organizations in Washtenaw County. Artists from The Amplify Fellowship will be featured, and a community organization they have chosen to support will receive part of the proceeds from the ticketed livestream event.

The Amplify Project is an umbrella of initiatives intended to support the intersection between community engagement and artistic expression in Washtenaw County. The Amplify Fellowship, which Rashon is a founding fellow for,  is a program sponsored by Leon Speakers and Grove Studios that supports the creative efforts of musicians with recording and engineering costs in exchange for volunteer service to local nonprofits and supportive agencies in the county. Rashon, a native of Ypsilanti will participate in March, while Ann Arbor fellows Dani Darling and London Beck will perform in April and May, respectively.

“Bringing the artists and the organization representatives together in this way just makes sense,” says Maia Evans, co-founder of The Amplify Project. “We’re hoping to show our audience the incredible journey of both the fellows and the communities they serve. Along the way. we hope to establish the Leon Loft as a community space and we are extremely grateful for the sponsorship and support we have already received.”

The Leon Loft at Leon Speakers, On Air Elements, Grove Studios and the Ann Arbor Summer Festival will collaborate to produce the events, with Evans at the helm. Grove Studios and Leon Speakers have been working together throughout the last year to bring robust virtual content to the community in lieu of the COVID-19 crisis.
